But on the day of the event, those plans abruptly changed. The Cinecon 62 Classic Film Festival Team announced on Facebook that Eden could no longer attend. The organizers attributed the last-minute cancellation to a “sudden illness.”

According to the festival team, Eden had canceled at the last minute despite having looked forward to seeing attendees and taking part in the celebration. The organizers also sent Eden their wishes for a speedy recovery.

Eden Addresses Her Absence Herself

On Sunday, September 6, Eden posted a personal update on Instagram to clarify the circumstances behind her absence. Her account differed in one significant respect from the Cinecon announcement. Eden said she was not suffering from an illness.

She explained that there had been “a bit of miscommunication” surrounding what had kept her away from the festival. Instead, Eden said the problem arose after her doctor recently prescribed a new medication.

She explained exactly why she had been told to stay home: “My doctor very recently prescribed a brand-new medication that turned out to have some nasty side effects. Due to the discomfort, my doctor ordered me to remain at home until it can be sorted out.”

Eden described the timing as awful and thanked people for their concern. Most importantly, the actress indicated that she expected the interruption to be temporary.

She called the situation “just a speedbump” and said she expected to be “out and about” once her doctor gave her permission. Eden closed by again sending her love and thanks to everyone who had expressed concern.

So while Cinecon’s original announcement attributed the cancellation to a “sudden illness,” Eden’s own update the next day clarified that medication side effects — not an illness — had kept her home.
